Tommy Davis – Maestro, Guitar, Vocals, Dean of the Surf Academy

A.K.A. Shecky / Shecky Ricardo / Dr.Sheckenstein / Shecky I O Ty A

Tommy Davis got to be known in the New York music circuit as one of the hottest guitar sidemen a band or artist could work with. His diverse musical background schooled him in a broad range of styles including surf, country, rock, blues, jazz and world music. He has performed in several of Long Island’s hottest bands including Full Hand and Blue. His guitar virtuosity has led him to numerous guest performances, jam sessions and recording dates (including the likes of Peter Tosh, Lenny Kravitz and Bill Kirchen). The Twangtones have given Shecky an outlet to open up and do his own thing with a tight rhythm section that can take it in many different directions.

His influences range from Soupy Sales and Rod Serling, to his daughter Marissa’s harmonica playing.

Uncle Bee – Percussion, Gadgets, Gizmos & Vocals

Originally a drum set player, Uncle Bee got his start in the High School Band and Jazz Band, with music theory and vocal training as additional courses. This course of study was continued in college, while playing in various rock n roll bands in Brooklyn. One of the uncle's first gigs was backing a stripper at 16 at the Club 802, which went on to be called the 2001 - the club that spawned the movie "Saturday Night Fever." Over the years, Uncle Bee's musical experience has touched on a myriad of musical styles from all over the world: Disco, rock, country-western, Celtic, Finnish-Estonian, folk, show tunes, reggae, Latin, Indian and Middle Eastern, rockabilly, and surf music. Bee says, “it’s all about the fury and the passion… no, make that the passion and the fury.”

Eddie Kern – Dog House Bass

Ed started playing electric bass in local bands around age 14. He was influenced strongly by the late 60’s and 70’s psychedelic & progressive rock movements. His dedication and virtuosity for his instrument is well known. Eddie has worked with a myriad of fine players, including the world class guitarist Larry Meyer, and the progressive metal outfit Sahara, He has recorded with many local artist’s and has been a featured performer with many acts in the tri state area. Ed plays a multitude of bass instruments including the 5 string, 8 string, fretless, and upright.  He received an AOE in electronics in 1999. He currently devotes a lot of his time to the arts of R&B, voodoo and tattooing.

Doug Morrow – Trap Drums

After attending the Berklee School of Music, Doug moved to New York City in the late 1980’s. He worked as a composer and percussionist for soundtracks and jingles, and performed in a variety of live situations. He has had the opportunity to back up some of New York’s finest players. In the 90's he expanded his work into television production. In 1992 he formed D.A.M. Video Inc. and he has worked with such clients as HBO, Jim Henson Productions, United Nations Television and PBS. As his personal creative outlet, Doug formed the Gone Tribe. The Gone Tribe has produced soundtracks, videos, pop projects, musical stories, and more. Doug is known for his strong groove with a light touch along with having a good time on the band stand. “As the great rock & soul drummer Rodger Hawkins say’s… lay back and burn.”
